The Amazon + Belém + Marajó Island
Discover all the delights of the largest tropical rainforest in the world...
The Amazon Rainforest is a truly wild jungle paradise. This dense jungle, still largely untouched, shelters in its bosom the richest of fauna and flora. The spectacle is partly due to its many rivers, some the size of oceans, that unfurl into igarapés, corredeiras and form sand banks and fluvial beaches.
Belém, the natural entrance to The Amazon, is the home of a beautiful collection of architecture, still preserved with its large houses, palaces and churches in the old centre. |
 |
It is a typical Amazon city, with forests, woods and bush containing all the abundance of fauna and flora of the region.
Marajó Island, encircled by the rivers Tocantins and The Amazon, is an attraction not to be missed. Considered the largest fluvial-maritime island in the world, its territory is covered by woods in the west, and large areas of naturally flooded fields in the east, where the breeding of asian buffalos takes place. The whole island boasts beautiful beaches and mangroves, and inland the rich local fauna can easily be seen. |

Over the years since the project started, a feeding routine has been put in practice and twice a day (always at 11am and 4pm) the animals are fed. At this time, the area is open to visitors, always with the supervision of specialized professionals, who allow people to film and photograph the primates in their natural habitat with complete safety.
